The Market Theatre Lab is excited to present the outcome of this year’s “Urgent Interactions” Young International Congress on 7 June at 8pm at the Ramolao Makhene Theatre.

The International Youth Congress had brought together over 70 participants from Germany, South Africa and Brazil to discuss and explore urgent matters of globalisation in a 5 day congress taking place both in person and online. The Market Theatre Laboratory has had the pleasure of welcoming 14 participants from the participating countries to work with our students under the guidance of expert facilitator and dramaturge Billy Langa to artistically explore and present a new work made during these 5 days.

The outcome of the congress will be presented to a live audience at the Ramolao Makhene Theatre on 7 June. Audiences will be able to enjoy this live performance, as well as a broadcast of performances happening simultaneously in Germany and Brazil (which also feature students from the Lab who have travelled for the congress). The performance is FREE but booking via webtickets is advised as space is still limited.

The international, participative youth congress “Urgent Interactions” is organised in cooperation between Dusseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Market Theatre Foundation in Johannesburg and Paideia Associacao Cultural in Sao Paulo.

The project is funded by the German Cultural Federation, the Centre for Civic Education of the State if North Rhine-Westphalia and supported by the Youth Welfare Office of the State Capital of Dusseldorf. Additional funding from The Goethe Institut Johannesburg has enabled travel for the Market Theatre Laboratory Students.

Tickets for the presentation are FREE – but booking via webtickets is recommended:
